Why do you need podcasting in your teaching?

Have you ever come across a teacher that uses podcasting in class? I don't think so. However, podcasting is an efficient tool for learning, especially for language learning. It can be used by both teachers and learners for many purposes. In this week's lecture, we focused on podcasting in class.

After the class, we were assigned to create a podcast. Büşra and I wanted to prepare a vox-pop. Our question was: "What makes you smile spontaneously?" We asked 12 people. Answers were all different. One's reason for smiling was his cat while the other's was the dessert. It showed that happiness is everywhere!

The process before creating the podcast was actually hard. I can say that the hardest part was deciding on the podcast. First, we wanted to create a story. Next, we thought vox-pop- opinions of people about one question- would be better. After deciding on vox-pop, we chose our question. Then, the search for interviewers began. We could find them easily but, the recording process was challenging.

If I talk about the task generally, it was really fun and we had a great time. That's way, I would like to give such a similar task to my future students. They can have fun and also learn by using technology with podcasts. I think the only disadvantage of podcasts is that they take lots of time. Except that, they are great!
