New form of art: Digital Storytelling

We always hear that arts should be used in the classroom. Since we are in the 21st century, why don't we use the 21st century form of art?

Digital storytelling is perfect for it. It has lots of advantages. For example, as it is "digital", it promotes students' digital or technology literacy. As it is "storytelling", it helps them use their voice and be communicative. It is also a great way of enhancing creativity in general.

For the last assignment of our course, My friends Zeynep, Büşra, Dila, and I prepared a digital story. We wanted to create a fiction story but, we didn't know how hard it could be. It was not about writing the idea, it was finding the idea. We tried to find the concept until our heads exploded. After finishing it, we relaxed. We thought the animation part will be easy probably because we didn't know the process.

We used Animaker which is a free program. We were happy at first since it is free. Then, we realized that all the items we wanted to use were in Aminaker's upgraded version that requires money. It was really hard and time-consuming to create scenes. Animaker was also problematic. Sometimes we couldn't see scenes we made. We were like: "No way, our efforts have just gone." Considering we had it a few times, it was so tiring.

The audio part was a little problematic too. Animaker didn't allow us to upload sound so, we had to use another program.

Despite the problems we faced, I think it also taught us many things. That's why as a future teacher, I would apply in most of my classes.
